Subject Specific Tutoring Positions

The CWU Learning Commons invites applications for Subject Specific Tutors for Spring 2024 and the 2024-2025 academic year. Subject Specific Tutors are students who have a high understanding of a specific field of study such as biology, business, computer science, law and justice, psychology, and sociology. Their transcripts show extensive coursework within these fields, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a B+ or higher in courses they wish to tutor. Subject Specific Tutors are passionate about their field of study and generally want to share that interest with others.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in understanding course content
  • Assist students in developing effective skills and behaviors that lead to academic success
  • Prepare for and attend training sessions and/or staff meetings
  • Perform other duties that promote goals as requested by supervisor
  • Support office assistants in daily operations and the smooth functioning of the Learning Commons
  • Maintain a clean work environment
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
  • Respond to communication in a consistent and timely manner
  • Check CWU email daily
  • Check students in and out and write notes about each tutoring session
